The death of the megastar Michael Jackson yesterday eclipsed the death of actress Farrah Fawcett. Every news source, from radio to newspapers to TV, announced details of his death and the overwhelming support from Los Angeles to New York, London to the Phillipines, Africa to Japan. In fact, the top 10 songs have 4 by Jackson, 44 of 100, and 8 of the 10 top-selling albums by him in the past 24 hours (which I predicted-bought your Apple stock yet?). Numerous TV specials were on all 3 major networks last night, and ABC will air a special 20/20 segment titled, "Michael Jackson: The Man and His Music." In fact, there was so much traffic and shock over this sudden death that the websites Google, Twitter, and the LA Times crashed at one point yesterday.
At the popular Fmylife website, someone posted:
"Today, my brother and I were going to give our parents their anniversary gift which cost us over $3000. The gift was a trip to London in August to see a show on Michael Jackson's comeback tour. FML"
and
"Today, Michael Jackson died. FML"
